Abstract

We examined a population of cave crickets from southeastern Anatolia, belonging to the genus Troglophilus Krauss, 1879. Our analysis revealed that this population represents a previously undescribed species, which we herein describe as Troglophilus dicleensis Taylan & Şirin, sp. n., discovered in Dicle Cave, Diyarbakır Province. Detailed morphological descriptions, illustrations, and figures are provided to support the identification of this new species. Troglophilus dicleensis can be distinguished from its closest geographical relative, T. escalerai Bolívar, 1899, as well as from other Anatolian Troglophilus species, by unique characteristics of the epiphallus, the subgenital plate, and the ovipositor. With this discovery, the number of Troglophilus species recorded from caves in the Western Palaearctic rises to 22, and the number documented in Turkey to 11. http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:CA0541D4-572F-438F-A09F-0C8B2300A1C2.
