Bu çalışma, askeri darbelerin Türkiye-Avrupa ilişkileri üzerindeki etkilerini incelemiştir. Askeri müdahale dönemleri Türk siyasi tarihinde en önemli gelişmelerden birisidir. Türkiye'nin Avrupa ile ilişkilerinin gelişimini 27 Mayıs, 12 Mart ve 12 Eylül örnekleri çerçevesinde ele alan bu çalışmada literatür taramasına dayalı bir araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiştir. Ordunun siyasal sistem içindeki konumu analiz edilmeye çalışılarak silahlı kuvvetlerin genelde politika özelde ise Avrupa ile ilişkilerdeki tutumları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla, çalışma ordunun siyasete müdahale etmesinin nedenlerini araştırmış ve askerlerin siyaset üzerindeki etkisinin belirleyicilerinin ne olduğu, neden ve nasıl müdahale ettikleri, kurdukları rejimin ne tür bir rejim olduğu gibi soruları yanıtlamaya çalışmıştır. Çalışma, bu soruların yanıtlanmasından sonra, her askeri darbenin Türkiye-Avrupa ilişkileri üzerindeki etkilerine ilişkin bilgi sunmayı amaçlamıştır. Bu çalışmada 27 Mayıs, 12 Mart ve özellikle 12 Eylül dönemlerinin Türkiye-Avrupa ilişkilerinin gelişimini önemli ölçüde yavaşlattığı ve hatta önemli fırsatların kaçırılmasına neden olduğu ortaya konmuştur
This study examined the impacts of military coups on Turkey-Europe relations. The period of military interventions is one of the most important developments in Turkish political history. In this study that addresses the development of Turkey's relations with Europe within the framework of May 27, March 12 and September 12 examples, literature review has been embraced as the research method. By analyzing the place of the military in the political system, it was attempted to determine the attitude of the military in general in the domestic politics and in particular in the relationship with Europe. For this purpose, the study sought for the answers of the intervention of the military in politics as well as it endeavored to answer the questions of what were the determinants of the impact of the military on politics, why and how they intervened and what kind of a political system they founded. The study, after answering these questions, aimed to provide information concerning the impact of each and every coup on Turkey-Europe relations. In this study, it has been revealed that May 27, March 12 and September 12 periods slowed down the development of Turkey-Europe relations significantly and they even caused missing of serious opportunities
