Abstract

The new genus Demirsoyus Sirin and Ciplak n. gen. (Orthoptera, Acrididae, Oedipodinae) and the new species Demirsoyus salmani Sirin and Ciplak n. sp. are described on the basis of specimens from Antalya in Mediterranean Turkey. The necessary illustrations are provided to support the descriptions. Relationships between new genus and closely related genera are discussed. Relationships between Aiolopus group genera are suggested to be Aiolopus + (Platypygius + (Epacromius + Demirsoyus n. gen.)). Finally, a biogeographic evaluation of the last three genera is presented, assuming their history to be related with tectonic evolution of Mediterranean.
