Özet

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that can be produced from renewable sources such as vegetable and animal fats. It is available as fuel in diesel engines. In addition, biodiesel fuel is a type of environmentally friendly fuel that is non-toxic, easily disrupable in nature. A single cylinder, four-stroke, direct-injection, air-cooled diesel engine was used in the study. In the engine is used as fuel of diesel fuel and 10%, 20% and 30% of SOME (Sunflower Oil Methyl Ester) was added to diesel fuel. In the study, the effect of SOME fuel mixtures are investigated on combustion characteristics. SOME blended fuels compared to diesel fuel, this fuels have been obtained from higher cylinder pressure. The reason for this is the oxygen in the chemical structure of biodiesel is higher density and ignition delay durations. The maximum heat release rate of biodiesel blended fuels increased depended on the maximum pressure and temperature increase in-cylinder. SOME blended fuels are higher in-cylinder pressure, temperature, heat release rate than diesel fuel. In addition, penetration depth in the combustion chamber is higher.
