Sanatta oluşan üsluplar, bunların oluşma biçimi ve nedenleri geçmişten günümüze fark-lı etkenlere dayandırılarak açıklanmıştır. Bunlar arasında Wilhelm Worringer’in Soyutlama ve Öz-deşleyim isimli tez çalışması dikkat çekicidir. Worringer, tüm sanat tarihini bu kavramlarla açıkla-ma eğilimine girer. Bunun nedeni ise, sanatın ancak psikolojik olarak açıklanabileceğini düşünmesidir. Bu çalışma, soyutlama ve özdeşleyim kavramlarından yola çıkılarak oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın amacı, soyutlama ve özdeşleyim kavramlarını incelemek ve Louise Bourgeois’nın çalışmalarını bu kav-ramlar bağlamında değerlendirmektir. Çalışma nitel bir araştırma olup; betimsel-tarama yöntemiyle yapılandırılmıştır. Bilgiler literatür taraması yoluyla toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda; soyutlama ve özdeş-leyim kavramları bağlamında Louise Bourgeois’nın eserleri teknik ve içerik bakımından değerlendirilmiştir. Bourgeois sanat yaşamı boyunca farklı sanat hareketlerinde yer almış ve farklı disiplinlerde çalışmalar üret-miştir. Geçmiş yaşantıları ve bu yaşantılarda yer eden duygusal ve psikolojik olgular sanatçının çalışmalarında, yeniden üretilerek izleyiciye sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmalar aracılığıyla izleyici benzeşim kurma yolu ile yalnızca sa-nat yapıtı değil öznenin kavranmasında düşünce ve davranışların anlamlandırılması gibi süreçlere dâhil olmuştur.
The styles formed, the way they are created and their reasons in art are explained based on dif-ferent factors from past to present. Among these, Wilhelm Worringer’s thesis tends to explain all art history with these concepts. The reason for this is that he thinks that art can be explained only psy-chologically. The aim of the study is to examine the concepts of abstraction and empathy and to evaluate Louise Bourgeois’ work in the context of these con-cepts. The study was conducted in the qualitative design, and was structured with the descriptive-review method. The data were collected through literature review method. As a result of the study; the works of Louise Bourgeois are analysed In the light of abstraction and empathy, in terms of technique and content. Bourgeois has been involved in different art movements throughout his life and produced works in different disciplines. Past experiences and theirs emotional and psychological phenomena by reproducing have been pre-sented to viewer with the works of the artist. The viewer, by means of establishing affinity in these works, has not only involved in the comprehension of the subject but also the understanding of thoughts and of behaviours.
